Union cabinet on Monday approved 10% reservation in jobs and educational institutions for economically weak sections in general category. This will be given over and above the existing 50% reservation. I will tell you why I think this new scheme is nothing but a Jumla and a Lollipop to appease voters. The data suggests that more than 90% of general category people are eligible for being 'Economically weak" and poor according to new criterion (based on my assumptions). So the question arises here, will the real poor people even benefit from this? What is the point of thisnew reservation? Ironically, people sill have to pay incometax despite being eligible under this category.
